Looks like IShowSpeed has a fan and a friend in basketball legend Kevin Durant. While the world is still recovering from the famed YouTuber making history with his NBA 3/4 sprint record, the latter has joined his fans in fawning about his athletic prowess. The Houston Rockets star expressed his respect and admiration for IShowSpeed by calling him an “athlete” in a recent interview.

In a rather heartwarming and supportive gesture, the NBA forward spoke highly of the 20-year-old YouTuber internet star’s athletic skills.

“Speed is just an athlete… he can do it all!” Kevin Durant said, concurring with fans’ opinion during a post-game interview with the NBA. Upon being asked if IShowSpeed gave him a tough fight, he replied, “Of course not! But Speed is fast though, he’s more of a football player to me, I think, but he’s an athlete.”

The interview also witnessed Durant speaking about his friendship with IShowSpeed. He shared, “I’ve built a solid relationship with him dating back to I would say two years ago, we did a podcast together, we did a commercial together, so this is our third thing, our third time linking up.”

“Streamers and guys creating content every day, that’s a tough, tough job to do. I’ve really got respect for what Speed brings to the culture, and that was fun. I want to try and get him out to a Rockets game for sure,” the two-time NBA champion continued.

Kevin Durant’s appreciation for IShowSpeed’s athleticism increased all the more after the latter added his name to history by breaking Devin Carter’s NBA 3/4 sprint record of 2.87 seconds to make a new one. The YouTuber left fans and athletes at a loss for words after completing a three-quarter sprint in just 2.80 seconds.

Meanwhile, Durant’s recent praises for Speed have gone viral online, leaving fans obsessed with the duo’s developing friendship. Fan reactions soon poured in with one X (formerly Twitter) user writing, “Look how Speed has KD smiling…he really is the GOAT.”

Another fan commented, “Finally Speed earned his respect.” Moreover, a third user added, “KD saying ‘he can do it all!’ about Speed after that 3-point competition is wild. ultimate compliment from the ultimate bucket.”
