Daddy Yankee has revealed that he won’t join Bad Bunny for his Super Bowl set next year. The Puerto Rican rappers have collaborated on several hit songs in the past, like “Vuelve,” “La Santa,” and more recently on “X Última Vez.” Notably, Bad Bunny will be the first Latin artist to headline the Super Bowl halftime show next year.
Daddy Yankee shares why he won’t perform ‘Gasolina’ with Bad Bunny
In an interview with ABC, Daddy Yankee explained why he will not be able to join Bad Bunny to perform “Gasolina” at the Super Bowl. The “Con Calma” singer clarified that Bad Bunny is an “ally.” However, Yankee stated that he is on a “different mission” right now.
Interviewer Rocsi Diaz asked, “If he were to ask you to perform ‘Gasolina’ at the Super Bowl, would you?” Daddy Yankee laughed nervously and answered, “No, not right now. Not right now. ‘Cause I’m on a different mission right now…even though I respect what he’s doing right now. Don’t get me wrong. Benito is an ally.”
He emphasized Bad Bunny’s Puerto Rican roots and praised him for what he has achieved. The “Limbo” hitmaker continued, “And I love it, ’cause he’s from Puerto Rico. And actually, we were talking yesterday. I told him, ‘I wish you the best. Go out there and do your best, and we’re proud of you.’”
Furthermore, the 49-year-old revealed he is on a “different mission” right now. He said, “But I’m in a different mission right now. It’s different. So I gotta represent what I’m doing right now 100 percent.”
However, Daddy Yankee disclosed that he may change his mind if Bad Bunny invites him to perform the soothing song, “Sonríele.” The “Gasolina” rapper also showered praise on his fellow artist and what he has done for the Latin community.
He said, “I respect his creative decision. I respect everything that he’s doing right now. And it’s very important for the Spanish-speaking community, for the Latinos. Somebody’s gonna sing in Spanish and that’s beautiful.”
Super Bowl LX will take place on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
