Late Actor Chadwick Boseman Earns Huge Hollywood Praise

Chadwick Boseman, who passed away from colon cancer five years ago, is set to receive a huge honor — a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The late actor was primarily known for his role as Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, he was also recognized for his work in films like Marshall and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. The latter film earned him SAG and Golden Globe awards as well as a posthumous Oscar nomination.

Chadwick Boseman to receive star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Chadwick Boseman will be posthumously honored with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star on Thursday, November 20, 2025. The honor will be accepted by his widow, Simone-Ledward Boseman.

As per the Walk of Fame, the ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time (PT) at 6904 Hollywood Boulevard. Boseman’s star will be categorized under Motion Pictures. Fans who cannot attend the ceremony can see it via livestream on the Walk of Fame website.

Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and Viola Davis — Boseman’s co-star from Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom — will speak at the ceremony. The event will be officially hosted by Steve Nissen, the president and CEO of Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

Hollywood Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez released a statement briefly addressing Boseman’s impact on film and entertainment.

“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is deeply honored to celebrate Chadwick Boseman’s extraordinary legacy with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” the statement read (via Billboard). “His powerful performances and enduring impact both on and off screen continue to inspire generations around the world.”

Chadwick Boseman passed away on August 28, 2020, at the age of 43. Following his demise, Marvel Studios chose not to recast Black Panther and killed the character off at the beginning of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Thus, his place as the protagonist of the franchise was taken over by Letitia Wright’s Shuri, who will reprise her role in 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday.
