New details about Avengers: Doomsday suggest that Chris Hemsworth’s Thor will join the Avengers much earlier in the film than fans might expect.
Industry scooper Alex Perez was asked in his recent Patreon/Discord Q&A, “Will Thor’s role in Avengers: Doomsday be similar to his role in Avengers: Age of Ultron, where he’s with the Avengers for most of the movie, or will his role be similar to Avengers: Infinity War, where he has his own subplot?” (via The Cosmic Circus)
Perez replied, “Technically both.” He explained that the character will start off his journey independently but will join the main Avengers plot sooner than in Avengers: Infinity War. The scooper said, “It starts as a subplot but joins in at a much earlier moment than the 3rd act, like he did in Infinity War.”
Perez added that the character faces significant emotional challenges in the upcoming film, remarking that Thor “really goes through it.” The scooper said, “He always seems like he has a lot to lose in these movies. To quote Frank Ocean, ‘What’s a God to a non believer?’”
The insider’s remarks come amid growing anticipation for Avengers: Doomsday, which is currently in post-production under the direction of Joe and Anthony Russo. The film will feature a star-studded ensemble, including Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, and Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, alongside Hemsworth’s return as Thor.
