Downton Abbey Star Calls Out Sydney Sweeney After GQ Interview

Downton Abbey star Dan Stevens has seemingly criticized Sydney Sweeney amid backlash over her GQ interview. The 43-year-old actor shared a post on his Instagram Stories, calling out the Euphoria actress for her unsatisfactory response to the “Great Jeans” campaign. Previously, Aimee Lou Wood commented on an Instagram post with a puke emoji to showcase her opinion on Sweeney’s GQ interview.

Dan Stevens did not hesitate to call out Sydney Sweeney amid the backlash over her GQ interview. The Legion star shared Timothy Troy’s thread on his Instagram Stories. It said, “Sydney Sweeney’s GQ interview is a reminder that ‘not having a stance’ on white supremacy is 100 percent having a stance on white supremacy.”

Although Stevens did not add anything further, his stance on Sweeney’s comments appeared to be reflected by the post. Sweeney spoke about her viral American Eagle’s “great jeans” campaign in her interview with GQ.

The Euphoria alum was asked if she was “surprised” by the backlash her viral denim campaign got. She revealed, “I did a jean ad. I mean, the reaction definitely was a surprise, but I love jeans. All I wear are jeans. I’m literally in jeans and a T-shirt every day of my life.”

Furthermore, when the interviewer asked her to comment on the ad allegedly promoting genetic superiority, Sweeney had a nonchalant response. The 28-year-old actress simply stated, “I think that when I have an issue that I want to speak about, people will hear.”

Content creator Jupiter Baal made a post on Instagram calling out Sydney Sweeney’s comments from her GQ interview. He explained to his viewers, “She was given an opportunity to push back, she didn’t, therefore she’s in on it. She’s not naive and she’s not stupid.”

The post was liked by Aimee Lou Wood, SZA, and Christina Ricci. Ricci reiterated her support for Jupiter’s post by commenting, “100 percent” in the comments section.

Sydney Sweeney also recently brushed off the abysmal box office numbers for the opening of her new movie, Christy, by writing a heartfelt Instagram post. She wrote, “So yes, I’m proud. Why? Because we don’t always just make art for numbers, we make it for impact. And Christy has been the most impactful project of my life.”
