Hilary Duff Seemingly Calls Out Leonardo DiCaprio’s Romance Type

Hilary Duff released a new single, “Mature,” and it seemingly includes a dig at Leonardo DiCaprio‘s dating patterns. Duff’s had been quietly developing the single, her first in 10 years, for some time. However, she only announced its existence a few days before release. The song, co-written by Duff’s husband, Matthew Koma, explores the actress-singer’s past relationship with an older man.

Hilary Duff released “Mature” and its music video on November 6, 2025. The lyrics of the song reflect Duff’s past relationship with an older man when she was younger, and how the latter had a pattern for dating younger women.

Certain lyrics of the song garnered attention for seemingly referencing Leonardo DiCaprio. These include a jab at his infamous pattern of dating younger women, his birthday falling on November 11, which makes him a Scorpio, and his art collection. The lyrics read:

“Very Leo of you with your Scorpio touch/Bet she’s so impressed by your Basquiat.”

Duff revealed in a statement that “Mature” was a conversation between her current and past selves. “The two of us are reflecting on a past experience and sending love to each other,” she added. “It’s a chuckle, a wink, and a sense of being grateful that we are sure-footed in where we landed.” (via People)

The “Mature” music video features two versions of Duff — one who performs on stage and the other watching the performance as an audience member. The latter eventually starts singing as well and goes to the lobby for a solo dance.

Speaking to Vogue, Duff shared that the song chronicled a “brief experience” from her past. “It was extremely therapeutic to write about things that a normal conversation doesn’t really give you the opportunity to,” she added.

“Mature” is the lead single of Hilary Duff’s upcoming sixth album. The single comes two months after Duff and Atlantic Records inked a deal as part of her return to music. As part of the deal, she will release a docuseries, executive-produced by Sam Wrench.
