Hogan Hatten comments on viral drunk fan incident
Detroit Lions’ long snapper Hogan Hatten has broken his silence about his role in the viral incident involving a drunk Commanders fan. The video in question is from Sunday’s 44-22 win over the Washington Commanders. In the video, Hatten is handling a drunk fan who rushed the field during their game. The video footage spread like wildfire on social media. Theories suggesting that the fan had entered the field to try to fight Hatten followed soon after.
The video shows the Lions player having a conversation with a Commanders fan donning a Daniels jersey. The same fan created a ruckus when he rushed into the field before losing his right sneaker. The visibly drunk fan was immediately escorted out by the Field Incursion team.
The long snapper has since claimed that the incident was completely isolated, thereby denying any involvement in it. Further explaining his presence in the video, Hatten revealed that he wasn’t even speaking to the fan in question.
Putting an end to numerous speculations about his appearance in the video, the footballer clarified that he was actually having a friendly conversation with another young fan, to whom he even gifted a ball after the game.
Hogan Hatten shared his statement via Instagram stories, which goes as follows:
“The video going around suggesting I was arguing with a Commanders fan before he rushed the field is inaccurate. I did not speak to that person at all during the game. I struck up a fun conversation with a young fan, who you can’t see sitting in front of him in the first row, and ended up giving him a ball after the game!”
