Luigi Mangione Allegedly Beaten up in Bangkok Months Before Arrest

Luigi Mangione, who is accused of being the shooter behind the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has also been alleged to have been in Thailand months before the incident took place. In a book published anonymously, an American author claims to have met Mangione during his travels across Asia. As per an incident described in the book, Mangione got into a bar brawl in 2024 in a sex bar in Bangkok.

Reports suggest Luigi Mangione was beaten up in Bangkok

As reported by The New York Times last month, workers at a sex bar allegedly beat up Luigi Mangione in Bangkok, Thailand. Mangione, who travelled to Asia in 2024, reportedly met with a man named Christian Sacchini and his friend at a pub in the aforementioned city. The anonymous author of “Last Known Contact: The Untold Story of Luigi Mangione” described the alleged bar brawl in his book.

The author claims to have met Mangione while backpacking in Thailand. He also shared screenshots of alleged WhatsApp messages between him and Mangione from their time there. As per the excerpts shared by The Daily Mail, Mangione’s alleged texts to the author contain an image of his hand showing scratches and bruises on his arm. An alleged text from Mangione reads, “F*****g nuts story from last night I gotta tell you.” The author wrote in his book that he did not witness the brawl in person, but that Mangione told him about it. However, the authenticity of the book has not yet been verified.

As per the article published by The New York Times, Mr. Sacchini’s friend allegedly made plans to travel to Vietnam with Mangione; however, he later decided to return to Japan. The friend, whose identity remains anonymous, also mentioned that Mangione spoke about Pokémon and video games, as well as the high cost of health care in the United States. A few months later, Brian Thompson was shot and killed outside the Hilton Hotel in Midtown Manhattan on December 4, 2024, allegedly by Mangione.
