Robert Pattinson Didn’t Have a ‘Single Functioning Brain Cell’ During Dune 3 Shoot

Acclaimed actor Robert Pattinson is also a part of the Dune franchise now, with the Batman star slated to make his debut in a mystery role in Dune: Part Three. But shooting Dune also meant that the actor had to face one of the biggest environmental challenges- the hot, hot desert. Pattinson recently opened up about this and revealed that his brain was not working in the heat.

Robert Pattinson is one of the most in-demand actors in the industry. He has appeared in numerous kinds of films over the years, including some that gained great critical acclaim. Now, the actor will be a part of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three. The upcoming film is slated to conclude the story fans have been waiting to hear.

While Pattinson’s role has not been revealed yet, it is clear that he is taking on a prominent part.

As is common in the franchise, the shooting took place mainly in the desert. As per reports, most of the shooting for Dune 3 took place in the Arabian desert, just like its predecessors. This left the new inductee, Robert Pattinson, quite distressed.

“When I was doing ‘Dune’, it was so hot in the desert that I just couldn’t question anything,” Robert Pattinson said about shooting for Dune 3 to IndieWire. He added, “And it was so relaxing, like my brain actually wasn’t operating. I did not have a single functioning brain cell. And I was just listening to Denis [Villeneuve]: ‘Whatever you want!'”

Other stars like Austin Butler and Zendaya, who even had heatstroke while shooting, spoke about the perils of this difficult shoot.

Dune 3 will also add Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke besides Robert Pattinson. Returning cast members include Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson, and Anya Taylor-Joy.

Dune: Part Three will premiere on December 18, 2026.
