After David Harbour and Lily Allen recently split earlier this year, the singer has referenced the breakup in a new song, leading to some buzz. Now, the Stranger Things star, who will appear in the final season of the Netflix show at the end of the month, got candid about his split with Allen and the “mistakes” he has made.
Here’s what Harbour shared.
David Harbour shares his thoughts on mistakes after Lily Allen split
David Harbour recently opened up about his thoughts on the mistakes he made after his split from Lily Allen, who filed for a divorce in September after four years of marriage. Harbour spoke to Esquire UK about a variety of things, including his plans for the future beyond Stranger Things, self-reflection, and the life lessons he accumulated on the way.
“You either accept your path completely and realize that even the pain and the slip-ups and the mistakes are all part of the journey, and that there’s truth and growth, wisdom and deeper empathy and connection in all that,” Harbour said about his tumultuous journey.
“It’s about incorporating your life into something that you can give to other people so that they can have a cathartic response to their lives,” he continued, “If you’ve never been through anything, what do you really have to offer? If I were to change anything I’d change everything, and just make my life happy and silly and like, whatever, and then I wouldn’t be an artist anymore. And that would suck.”
He emphasized that he wanted to continue telling complex stories through his acting, but also said that he wanted to focus on his personal goals. “Then of course there’s personal stuff that I want to do, and people that I want to love, and be good to and nurture, things like that,” he added.
This comes shortly after Lily Allen allegedly implied in her new album that David Harbour was a sex addict and broke the rules of their open marriage.
Anyhow, it seems that David Harbour is looking forward to this moment.
Stranger Things season 5 volume 1 will premiere on November 26, 2025.
