High Potential Season 2 Episode 8 ended on an all-time high, and it seems there is a lot more waiting for fans in January 2026. The mid-season finale had plenty going on, and it appears that Karadec will have an important role moving forward, especially regarding Captain Wagner’s uncharacteristic outburst. Here’s what the showrunner said about the next episode of High Potential.

Todd Harthan talks Karadec/Wagner rivalry in High Potential Season 2
The latest episode of High Potential saw the tension soar significantly. The events of the mid-season finale were defining. The next episode, which comes in 2026, will tackle these tensions head-on.
The mid-season finale featured Morgan and her new superior, Captain Wagner, having a rather loud exchange. It ended with the latter losing his cool in the most uncharacteristic of ways.
Speaking to TV Line, Todd Harthan, the showrunner, revealed that Karadec will have Morgan’s back in the next episode. This means that there could be a potential rivalry brewing between Karadec and Wagner.
“That particular moment is something that Karadec is really going to interrogate him about in the next episode,” Harthan said, “It came out of nowhere and felt very heightened, considering Wagner knows who Morgan is and how she works. So why do that? What’s his agenda?”
TV Line revealed earlier that the upcoming episode after the mid-season finale will not pick up directly after the events of this episode. Rather, it will feature a time-jump.
Hartham revealed that there will be a narrative device that will help establish an “interesting backfill about what happened in that hotel room in the time between getting that call and getting to a crime scene.” Harthan added, “Karadec has some questions for her, so we start with a really fun, juicy scene at the top of the next one.”
High Potential Season 2’s mid-season finale is now streaming on Hulu.
