Jen Affleck’s DWTS Partner Refutes Critics Following Elimination

Dancing with the Stars’ Jan Ravnik has responded to Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s harsh criticism about his performance on the show. He said that he got “all the love on this show,” and whoever is trying to “stay relevant,” outside the show, “this is not the way to do it.”

After getting eliminated from Dancing with the Stars Season 34 during Halloween Night, Jan Ravnik and his celebrity partner Jen Affleck reflected on their journey. During their conversation, Ravnik also shared his response to Maks Chmerkovskiy’s criticism of him.

“I have no comment on that,” Ravnik told Entertainment Tonight. “I got all the love on this show. All the pros and judges also—everyone gave me so much love. And people who’re trying to stay relevant, spreading the hate—this is not the way to do it. I never will spread or take the hate,” he added.

Later, during an interview with US Weekly, he shared more thoughts on the subject. “I mean, look, everyone has [an] opinion. Everyone has a right to have [an] opinion. Haters [are] going to hate and whoever loves us, loves us, ” Ravnik explained.

He continued, “What am I going to do? You can’t change their mind. Everyone can have [an] opinion — either I respect [it] or don’t respect [it]. He added, “Yeah, let them talk. If they want to stay relevant in that way, yeah, let them hate.”

Chmerkovskiy, who has been associated with the show for 17 years as a pro dancer before retiring in 2023, heavily criticised Ravnik’s role in Dancing with the Stars Season 34.

On his wife Peta Murgatroyd’s podcast, The Penthouse with Peta, he said, “Dancing with the Stars is a worldwide phenomenon… I’m sorry, Jan has absolutely no business being a pro on Dancing with the Stars.”

MAKS IS BACK! And he has very strong opinions about Wicked Night.

The DWTS alum continued, “There’s zero foundation technique, quality, understanding of the partnership. Bro, I’m getting emotional. It is absurd, and this is unreal how blind we have to be, and God forbid say what’s obviously there.”

“He had no idea what foxtrot is supposed to look like,” Chmerkovskiy added, pointing out Affleck and Ravnik’s foxtrot performance. “How are you going to expect him to teach it and deliver that message in a format that is completely different from even ballroom dancing?” the dancer added.

Both Affleck and Chmerkovskiy agreed that Affleck was at a major “disadvantage” in the show. Though Chmerkovskiy believed that it’s not Ravnik’s “fault.”
