Frankie Muniz Hints He & Hilary Duff Fell Apart Due to Her ‘Intense’ Mom

Frankie Muniz and Hilary Duff starred together in the 2003 family action film Agent Cody Banks. However, Muniz revealed recently that he hasn’t been in touch with his co-star since the last day of filming. In a recent podcast appearance, he talked about their relationship and why they haven’t spoken for decades.

Frankie Muniz on why he hasn’t spoken to Cody Banks costar Hilary Duff in years

In a conversation with Joe Vulpis on his podcast, Malcolm in the Middle actor Frankie Muniz spoke about the show’s upcoming reboot. However, he also opened up about his dynamic with his Agent Cody Banks co-star Hilary Duff. When asked about when exactly he became friends with Duff, Muniz replied, “Hilary Duff was probably one of my first friends when I moved to LA to film Malcolm.”

He went on to explain how every young actor at the time used to live in the Oakwood Apartments area in Burbank and how he visited his friends who lived there almost every day. He revealed that this is where he became friends with Duff, even before they starred together on Lizzie McGuire. In 2002, Muniz played himself in an episode of Lizzie McGuire, at the request of Duff, which took place two years after Malcolm in the Middle began airing, and before Agent Cody Banks came out in 2003.

On why he hasn’t spoken to Duff in over two decades, Muniz described how he met Duff’s mother. “Her mom was… I’m gonna say the epitome of a stage mom,” he explained. “She was intense. Hilary was so cool, we had an awesome relationship, but her mom was super intense,” Muniz added. He then went on to explain how Duff’s mom asked him about what he was doing that summer. After he mentioned telling her he would be filming Agent Cody Banks, he then explained how “calls were made,” and the next day, Hilary was on set with him, playing the role of Natalie Connors in the film as his co-star.

Later, when talking about his friendship with Angie Harmon, he told Vulpis how he was “very sad when Hilary’s mom would come on set.” Further, he added, “And if I told you I’ve never talked to Hilary since the last day of filming. I’ve not said one word to her since then.”
