Sources say Sydney Sweeney defending Scooter Braun amid friends’ concern
Sydney Sweeney’s close friends are reportedly expressing concern over her growing relationship with music executive Scooter Braun.
According to RadarOnline.com, Sweeney has been spending time with Braun after turning down dates with Ben Affleck, Tom Brady, and Orlando Bloom. The two were first seen together in Venice in June and have reportedly gone on several dates since. Insiders described their relationship as “casual.”
Sources told the outlet that Sweeney has brushed off the concerns, saying “it’s nobody’s concern” and calling Braun “a cool, chilled-out guy.” Her friends, however, believe she may be ignoring his controversial past. One insider said, “He’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing. You only have to look at his past to see that.”
Braun, 44, is one of the most divisive figures in the music industry. In 2019, he bought Taylor Swift’s former label, Big Machine Records, which gave him control of the masters of her first six albums. Swift called Braun an “incessant, manipulative bully” and re-recorded her albums to regain ownership. Earlier this year, she confirmed she had repurchased all her masters, calling it the “greatest dream come true.”
Reports also mention Braun’s fallout with longtime client Justin Bieber over an alleged unpaid $8 million loan. The two ended their professional relationship in August 2023. “Taylor and Justin and many more would swear he’s a scumbag and anyone interested in dating him should seriously rethink that,” said a source.
Friends close to Sweeney reportedly worry the actress could be “making a huge mistake” by associating with Braun, adding, “Scooter has such a bad reputation, and the feeling is that Sydney could do much better.”
