Brad Ingelsby, the creator of HBO’s gripping crime thriller Task, recently gave an encouraging update about the show’s future. Following the success of its debut season, Ingelsby opened up about the possibility of there being another season. While HBO has yet to confirm a renewal, the show’s strong viewership and critical response have fueled anticipation for its renewal.
Brad Ingelsby says he’d ‘love’ to do ‘another season of Task’
Brad Ingelsby, the creator of HBO Max’s Task, has recently opened up about the possibility of Season 2. He confirmed, “I’d love to have a chance to do another season of Task.” However, he clarified that the future of the series ultimately depends on HBO’s decision.
Speaking to Esquire in a recent interview, Ingelsby discussed his creative process, the show’s success, and his hopes for the future. He said, “If people respond to Task and keep responding to Task, I’d love to tell more stories about this place, because I love writing about this place.” He added, “I do feel like I have more stories to tell.”
Reflecting on the writing process, Ingelsby emphasized his love for television’s scope and its ability to explore complex personalities. He said, “What I love about TV is just how many characters you get to explore. I really see myself as a character writer, not a great plot writer. You get to explore the Grassos, the Lizzies, and Aleahs.”
The show’s creator also noted that in a film format, he wouldn’t have the opportunity to delve into as many characters. He explained, “If I were to do a movie, unless I were Robert Altman, I just wouldn’t be able to tap into that many characters.”
Task features Mark Ruffalo as FBI agent Tom Brandis, who is reluctantly pulled back into active duty. He heads a task force investigating a series of violent robberies linked to a notorious criminal network known as the Dark Hearts. The series’ cast also includes Fabien Frankel, Emilia Jones, and Tom Pelphrey.
With strong viewership and growing critical acclaim, fans are hoping that HBO renews the crime drama for another season. Although Task was originally developed as a limited series, Ingelsby’s recent remarks have sparked hope among fans for more episodes in the future.
