Jason Kelce Sweats Through ‘Humbling’ NFL Workout Routine

Jason Kelce has tried out his old NFL workout, more than a year after he announced his retirement in March 2024. The former Philadelphia Eagles star returned to the team’s training facility recently to take on the gruelling workout once again.

The NFL icon was joined by strength coach Fernando Noriega as he geared up for the in-season training session. However, before he jumped into the workout, Kelce candidly admitted, “I’m not gonna lie, it’s been a while.”

Starting with some warm-ups, Jason Kelce dove into vigorous ladder drills, sprinting sessions, and strength routines to finish off the workout. Despite his initial skepticism, the star proved that he’s still got it when it comes to speed and intensity, even breaking his own personal record at one point.

“My fastest time I ever hit in practice was 19.2 mph,” Kelce shared before he began his run. So, when the coach revealed that he hit 19.64 mph this time, Kelce exclaimed, “Are you f***ing kidding me? Let’s go!” Noriega even stated, “Some of the guys probably playing now can’t hit that.”

Kelce and Noriega then headed over to the gym for some strength training workouts. While hitting the weights, the Super Bowl champ admitted that the numbers were “embarrassing” and “really bad.” He started with five 135 lb. barbell squats as a warm-up and then opted for the 225 lbs.

Kelce shared that during his playing days, he’d “routinely try to hit” 500 pounds. “I just felt strong, whether or not it was doing anything for me,” he added. However, this time, Kelce was not sure whether he could tackle the 505 lb. barbell. So, he went with the 455 lb. barbell instead. “I almost blew my back out on that one,” Kelce joked after hitting a few reps.

The former NFL star completed the workout with some lateral pulldowns, incline dumbbell presses, bicep curls, and more. As he reached the end of the routine, he joked, “I’m so f—ing tired. I’m fading quick.”

Although Kelce could no longer hit the target weights as he did in his prime, he still showcased incredible strength and endurance. The former football player shared the video on his X (formerly Twitter) page, with the caption, “This was humbling… honestly, speed was still there, but getting pinned trying to squat 505, and my power numbers were way down. I’m gonna blame us doing a full workout on the field first, and just know in my head that a fresh Jason Kelce can still hit that…”
