‘Ferocious’ Hailey Bieber Says Motherhood Gave Her ‘Silent Strength & Confidence’

Hailey Bieber says motherhood flipped a switch. In her new WSJ magazine interview, the Rhode founder described a “silent strength” that arrived after welcoming her first child, Jack Blues Bieber, with her husband and pop singer, Justin Bieber. She called it “ferocity,” and preferred who she is now. “I like who I am so much more now,” she said, tying that growth to building Rhode into a $1 billion brand and learning to protect her family time.

Hailey Bieber reveals she likes her current version better than before she had her son

In the Wall Street Journal Magazine interview, Hailey Bieber explained what changed and why. “You gain this silent strength and confidence,” she said, adding, “You can’t tell me the same s*** that you could tell me before. You’re not f****** with me after I pushed a human out of my body.” That candor frames Bieber’s motherhood as a reset, not a pause. She still led product tests and development at Rhode and will remain founder and chief creative and innovation officer after the sale to e.l.f. Cosmetics.

The model-turned-beauty mogul welcomed son Jack in August 2024 and steered Rhode through a blockbuster acquisition soon after. She spoke to WSJ Magazine in New York, days after Rhode’s Sephora rollout. Bieber’s motherhood heightened her focus and boundaries. She scheduled dinners for 6 p.m. to be home for bedtime and sent late-night “brain dumps” ideas to her team.

Bieber kept Jack off social media, stating, “Until your child can understand it… I have no interest in putting him out there.” Furthermore, she joked that even his nighttime routine changed: “My baby every single night goes to bed like a baby glazed doughnut,” because she moisturizes him with gentle lotions. She remarked, “I slather him.”

Besides juggling parental responsibilities, her career momentum continues. Rhode’s viral lip treatments, limited drops, and that lip-gloss phone case built a devoted customer base. However, the personal headline remains clear: Bieber’s motherhood gave her confidence and clarity. As she put it, “I’m still the one that’s testing all the products.” Moreover, she protected her home and said that the current version she likes best is a founder and a fiercely present mom.
