Fans start petition for George Strait to replace Bad Bunny as Super Bowl 2026 headliner
Another petition to replace Bad Bunny as Super Bowl 2026’s headliner is gaining traction on the internet. According to an article by the New York Post, a conservative section of fans has demanded that organisers replace Bunny as the main headliner for next year’s Super Bowl. Petitioners believe that the NFL and the organisers should announce “King of Country” George Strait as the headliner for next year’s Super Bowl Halftime.
It is a known fact that the “Monaco” singer is a harsh critic of the Trump administration in America. The anonymous petitioner believes that the 31-year-old Latin singer may turn the halftime show “into a political stunt.”
On October 1, an anonymous petitioner launched a petition against Bad Bunny. The petition has garnered more than 10,000 signatures.
The petition reads, “The Super Bowl halftime show should unite our country, honor American culture, and remain family-friendly, not be turned into a political stunt. Bad Bunny represents none of these values; his drag performances and style are the opposite of what families expect on football’s biggest stage.”
The petitioner and those who signed have nominated Strait, who embodies the true spirit of American culture and music. Hence, conservative fans believe that the country legend should lead the Super Bowl Halftime Show next year.
The Puerto Rican singer uses curse words and foul language in his music. A certain section of fans believe this kind of music is not suitable for family-friendly audiences. Some others have cited his preference for Spanish as the main reason why they don’t want him as the headliner.
Previously, John Strand announced on X that Turning Point would launch their own version of the Super Bowl. This counter program would run parallel to the Bad Bunny-led event.
Turning Point suggested Kid Rock as the headliner, along with a bunch of performers for the event. Notably, the 31-year-old singer hasn’t commented on the petitions signed against him at the time of writing this article.
