Prince Harry ‘Despondent’ After What Meghan Markle Faced Following Paris Trip, Says Source

Prince Harry has reportedly been left “hurt and upset” after online critics invoked his late mother, Princess Diana, to attack Meghan Markle during her recent trip to Paris. According to sources close to the Duke of Sussex, Harry believes people are using Diana’s memory “as a stick to beat his wife with.”

Friends told The Mail on Sunday, October 12, that the prince felt deeply uncomfortable watching public outrage build over Meghan’s actions during Paris Fashion Week, particularly after a video surfaced showing her stretching her feet in the back of a limousine near the Pont d’Alma tunnel, the site of Diana’s tragic 1997 car crash.

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, had flown to Paris for a tightly scheduled 48-hour visit that included front-row appearances at the Balenciaga show in support of designer Pierpaolo Piccioli. However, her trip quickly drew backlash online. Critics labeled the car video “bewildering” and “insensitive beyond belief.”

Sources close to Meghan insisted that she was completely unaware of how close the car was to the tunnel, calling it “a hell of a stretch” to suggest that she deliberately chose that route.

Friends said Harry has chosen not to comment publicly but remains “despondent, but not surprised” by the negative reaction. “Harry was left hurt and upset. Diana’s death was used as a stick to beat his wife with. Meghan did not even pass close to the tunnel,” one insider shared.

“The whole thing is a joke, but not a very funny one for Harry.” The source added that Meghan found the controversy “toxic,” saying her Paris debut “went down like a sack of cold sick.”

A separate source clarified that Meghan was wearing a seatbelt during her car ride, unlike Diana in 1997, and was focused on creating an Instagram reel.
