Al Pacino and Diane Keaton dated from 1971 to 1987 but never got married. Recently, one of his friends revealed that the actor always referred to her as “the love of his life.” Explaining further, the friend said:
“I know he will forever regret that he didn’t make his move when he had the chance. For years after he and Diane split, Al used to say, ‘If it’s meant to be, it’s never too late for a do-over.’ But sadly, now it is.” (via Daily Mail)
Al Pacino, who is currently 85 years old, recalled that Diane Keaton once asked him to either marry her or break up. He ended up choosing the latter. The friend further revealed that Pacino’s focus was always on his kids, no matter what was going on in his dating life. He purchased a house in Los Angeles even though he preferred living in New York.
The insider added that even though his LA house was close to Diane’s in Beverly Hills, the two never met after the breakup or even spoke again. They explained:
“I once asked him why, and he told me, ‘There’s no need to talk with each other. We said everything that needed to be said at the time.’” (via Daily Mail)
