Joe Keery talks about the viral handcuff moment at Sabrina Carpenter’s concert on October 4. Keery finally answered what it was like to get arrested by Carpenter in an interview with Mix 94.7 Austin.

The interviewer began by asking, “I don’t know if this is a sensitive topic, but you were arrested last week?” “Quite sensitive. I was in jail last week. Finally got the money to get myself out of jail,” Keery responded.

“No, it was fun, it was really fun. I’m a fan of hers,” Keery added.

“For those who don’t know, Sabrina Carpenter does an ‘arrest a hot guy’ thing at every show, and you had the honor last week of being arrested,” the host explained for viewers who might not be well-versed with the viral moment.

“How does that come about? Do they approach you? ‘Hey, what do you think about this?’” The host asked again.

“Yeah, you know, we have got mutual friends. She recorded a lot of her music at Electric Lady Studios, which is where I have worked. So we have kind of like a lot of connections. So yeah, cool to see her and her show in Austin. It was fun to be part of it,” Keery replied.

For those unversed, Keery attended Carpenter’s 2025 Austin City Limits set on October 4. As per Carpenter’s concert tradition, the Espresso singer handed him her signature pink handcuffs to arrest him.

Keery raised his wrists, signalling he was ready to be handcuffed. Carpenter liked his enthusiasm and thanked him for being a good sport. She handed him the pink handcuffs and dedicated the next song, “Juno,” in his honor.
