Travis Kelce Might Break Priest Holmes’ Record This Season

In a remarkable career that has spanned over a decade, Travis Kelce is now very close to making a landmark record for the Kansas City Chiefs this season. Despite the team’s mixed start to the season, Kelce has been a standout and is currently only two touchdowns away from surpassing Priest Holmes for the most touchdowns in Chiefs history. Holmes had 83 touchdowns with the Chiefs.

Travis Kelce is just two touchdown away from creating history

Travis Kelce‘s team endured a mixed start to this season, putting them at No. 3 in the AFC West. While the team has struggled in some areas, Kelce has been quite phenomenal. In the five games that have taken place so far, he has had 22 receptions, 243 yards, and two touchdowns. Last year, the tight end took seven games to get his first touchdown.

Following his performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5, Kelce now has 82 touchdowns after 180 games. This is only one short of the legendary Chiefs star Priest Holmes, who had 83 touchdowns with the Chiefs during his reign between 2001 and 2007. However, it took Holmes only 65 games to reach the milestone.

But Kelce could go down as an all-timer, and it could happen very soon, if he manages just two more touchdowns this season. With the way things have been, it looks like a matter of time before the 36-year-old achieves this feat.

Travis Kelce will get his earliest chance at equaling the record in Week 6, where the Chiefs play the Detroit Lions at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday. With a few years still expected out of the star, Kelce could set a record in the Chiefs that will remain untouched for many years to come.

Meanwhile, he remains one of the most popular and most talked-about sportspersons in the world due to his romance and recent engagement with the pop sensation Taylor Swift.
