Jussie Smollett Gets Removed From Special Forces Due to Medical Issues

Jussie Smollett exited Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test due to a medical emergency, as seen on the October 9 episode of the show. While he downplayed the issue and showed determination to continue, the medical staff couldn’t clear him due to the severity of his condition.

Jussie Smollett becomes Fourth celebrity to exit Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test

Jussie Smollett is the fourth celebrity to drop out of season four of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. After experiencing severe coughs and difficulties with breathing, his co-stars urged him to get checked by the medical team. After initial reluctance, he agreed to get checked.

Upon examination, Special Forces’ Dr. Andy Brown, the Chief Medical Officer, shared that Smollett had inflammation throughout his chest. Still, with determination, the Empire actor said, “There’s a fight in me. I know that now more than any other time in my life.”

However, Dr. Andy said that he had “developed an allergy to something in the dust,” and “his chest sounds horrendous.” Fearing that his condition may get worse, Dr. Andy withdrew him from the competition. Later, the show’s director, Jason Fox, removed Smollett’s armband, saying that the situation was “out of our hands.”

Defeated and in tears, the actor confessed, “There have been too many opportunities in my life to quit on things, on myself, and I don’t quit easily.”

Jussie Smollett’s medical issue developed during a challenge in the latest episode. In the October 9 episode, the recruits had to compete in a physically demanding challenge. For this day three challenge, the recruits were instructed to track and extract fallen comrades in a simulated war zone in the middle of the Moroccan desert. It took a toll on several recruits, including Kody Brown, Gia Giudice, Andrew East, and Shawn Johnson. However, Smollett bore the worst of it.

Inspired by the British reality TV show, SAS: Who Dares Wins, Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test is an American reality TV series on Fox. It brings together 16 celebrities in a simulated environment to face military-inspired challenges.
