Joy Behar celebrates 83rd birthday with funny lines
On the October 7 episode of The View, Joy Behar kicked off her annual birthday tag sale, sharing personal items with her co-hosts and audience.
“In honor of my 39th birthday, it’s time for my annual birthday tag sale,” Behar said. “Because I’m such a giver, everyone of you can get in on the fun, because we have some personal items that belong to me and my co-hosts.”
During the segment, Behar introduced her collection of clip-on earrings and explained why she still wears them, delivering the line that had the studio roaring: “Whenever I see them, I buy them, because my holes are dried up.”
Behar kept the laughs coming when revealing her prized Oscar de la Renta clip-ons, which she bought at a yard sale from a divorcing couple. “So touching, isn’t it?” she quipped, as Sara Haines suggested the earrings “carry luck.” Behar joked in response, “If you get these, you might get a divorce, so it might be worth buying them.” But it wasn’t all humor as Behar announced that proceeds from the tag sale would go to The Retreat, a nonprofit that supports victims of domestic abuse.
As the audience cheered, The View co-hosts took a moment to celebrate Behar. Whoopi Goldberg teased her, saying she was turning “23,” while Behar joked about the years gone by. “You know, 25 years ago, I was on the show with Rosie O’Donnell. She said, ‘Tell your age.’ I said, ‘It gives me vertigo.’ So, can you imagine the vertigo I have now?,” she joked.
