In her recent appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Taylor Swift shared some new details of her engagement. The pop star said that Travis Kelce proposed shortly after she appeared on “New Heights,” the podcast Kelce co-hosts with his brother Jason. Although she was focused on announcing her new album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” Kelce had a bigger surprise.
Swift explained that the podcast episode was used as a strategic distraction. The singer said, “So basically, I think for Travis, the podcast was just sort of a distraction.” She added that it was a “sort of a ruse, to keep me not looking out the windows of the house.”
Kelce even blacked out the windows with dark curtains, ensuring Swift remained unaware of his true intentions. “Afterward I kind of realized, he’s walking around sort of nervous about the podcast.” she said. The “Love Story” hitmaker added, “He’s like, ‘My heart is racing. I just really want — I know how much this means to you. I really want this to be what you hoped it would be,’ because we’d been talking about doing the podcast and announcing the album.” Swift also mentioned that she had never seen Kelce become so “nervous ever.”
After the podcast, Swift shared that Kelce invited her for a walk in the backyard and a glass of wine.” To that, she replied, “I’m always going to want to do that.” On that walk, Kelce proposed, completing the carefully orchestrated surprise. “And then I realized exactly why all of the windows were curtained and why he was nervous.” She described it as “the best possible case scenario.”
Swift shared the iconic engagement post on August 26. The couple have been together for over two years, going public with their relationship when she started attending Chiefs games in the 2023 season.
