DWTS Star Robert Irwin Joins Zootopia 2 Cast

Robert Irwin, star of Dancing with the Stars Season 34 and the son of late Australian conservationist Steve Irwin, has joined the sprawling voice cast of Zootopia 2. Irwin made the announcement during this week’s episode of the ABC and Disney+ dance competition series.

Irwin will voice a koala named Robert Furwin in Zootopia 2. During his pre-performance package on this week’s Dancing with the Stars, Irwin revealed that he and his pro-partner Witney Carson attended a screening for the sequel. He subsequently announced his role. The 21-year-old conservationist described the character as “awesome” before adding, “I just got to watch my scene in the movie. I cannot wait for you guys to see this. So, we’ll see you in November.”

Jared Bush, writer and co-director of the movie, later took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm the news. “If you watched #dwts tonight, you know it’s official… the absolutely delightful
@RobertIrwin is playing #zootopia2’s absolutely delightful koala, Robert… Furwin,” Bush shared.

Zootopia 2 is the sequel to the massively successful 2016 animated feature Zootopia. The original movie earned over a billion dollars at the global box office and garnered several accolades, including an Oscar for Best Animated Feature.

Irwin is the latest addition to the expanding voice cast of Zootopia 2. Several original voice cast members are returning for the sequel, including Ginnifer Goodwin as Judy Hopps, Jason Bateman as Nick Wilde, and Idris Elba as Chief Bogo. Some of the new additions are Ke Huy Quan as Gary De’Snake, Andy Samberg as Pawbert Lynxley, Fortune Feimster as Nibbles Maplestick, and Macaulay Culkin as Cattrick Lynxley.

According to the sequel’s official logline, Bogo will order Judy and Nick to join the Partners in Crisis counseling program after it becomes clear that “their partnership isn’t as solid as they thought.” However, they will soon face the “ultimate test” when they begin investigating “a mystery tied to the arrival of a venomous snake in the animal metropolis.”

Bush has directed Zootopia 2 with Byron Howard. The movie will premiere in theaters on November 26, 2025.
