The Tron: Ares premiere got a special guest when Tesla’s Optimus robot showed up on the red carpet. It stood face-to-face with Jared Leto and showcased some martial arts moves. The appearance of the humanoid robot at the world premiere drew many reactions on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter).

Tesla’s Optimus robot tries to challenge Jared Leto to a duel
Disney’s highly anticipated sequel Tron: Ares had its world premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday, 6 October, where cast members like Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, and Jeff Bridges all appeared.
But a lot of focus was on Tesla’s Optimus robot, which seemingly challenged Jared Leto to a fight. In a now viral clip, the robot can be seen facing Leto and showcasing some of its martial arts moves. The robot seemed to be trying to start a fight with Leto on the red carpet.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk was also seemingly very excited by this and even reshared Disney’s post with a caption, “Optimus at the Tron Premiere!”
The original clip posted by @Movies received many fan reactions. “Did Jared Leto survive?” one fan joked while another posted, “Optimus seemed very ready at the end.”
Tron: Ares will serve as a sequel to 2010’s Tron: Legacy and the original 1982 movie Tron. The new film stars Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, and Gillian Anderson, alongside Bridges and Leto. The synopsis for the film reads, “Mankind encounters AI beings for the first time when a highly sophisticated programme, Ares, leaves the digital world for a dangerous mission in the real world.”
Tron: Ares will release in theaters on October 10, 2025.
