The ‘Tom Cruise Cake’ Has Been Recalled for This Reason

California-based Doan’s Bakery recalled two of its most popular bundt cakes due to the presence of undeclared wheat and milk allergens. The recalled cakes are the White Chocolate Coconut Bundt Cake and the Carrot Bundt Cake.

The White Chocolate Coconut Bundt Cake has come to be known as the “Tom Cruise cake” in Hollywood because the veteran actor has a tradition of sending the bundt cake to popular stars’ homes during the holiday season. Here’s why the cakes were recalled.

Tom Cruise’s infamous cake recalled for a reason

Most know about the White Chocolate Coconut Bundt Cake because of Tom Cruise. The actor popularized it by sending it to other stars during the Holiday season. Recently, Glen Powell fanboyed over the moment when Cruise sent him the cake by putting up a story on Instagram. This has been a well-known tradition for years.

It has been affectionately termed the “Tom Cruise Cake.” Many A-list celebrities have been enjoying this treat from Cruise for years. But the cake ran into some trouble this year.

According to a recall notice published by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on October 1, 2025, Doan’s Bakery, which is situated in Woodland Hills, California, recalled its White Chocolate Coconut Bundt Cake and Carrot Bundt Cake due to undeclared wheat and milk.

Reports state that those sensitive to wheat or milk who come in contact with the contaminated product can experience even life-threatening symptoms. The recalled cakes were distributed by Goldbelly.

In response, Doan’s Bakery has decided to update the labels to include the allergens present in the cakes. So far, there have been no problems with the cakes.

Hopefully, the tradition of Tom Cruise will continue in the coming years, too. Glen Powell called the cake “the most delicious cake you’ve ever had.” Other big names who received the cake include Angela Bassett, Tom Hanks, Rosie O’Donnell, and Kirsten Dunst.
