Taylor Swift Says Super Bowl Rumors Are False: ‘This Is Nothing to Do With Travis’

Taylor Swift cleared the air on a few circulating rumors, including one about her allegedly turning down the Super Bowl halftime show because of Travis Kelce. This comes as Swift promotes her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl.

On October 6, Jimmy Fallon asked Tasked Swift about the viral rumor that she declined the Super Bowl halftime show because of “performance footage” concerns. Swift immediately shot it down. “No,” she said firmly before explaining why she’s steering clear of the NFL stage, at least for now.

“Here’s the thing,” she shared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “Jay Z has always been very good to me. Our teams are very close. They sometimes will call and say how does she feel about… and that’s not an official offer or a conference room conversation. We’re always able to tell him the truth, which is that I am in love with a guy who does that sport on that actual field.”

The Grammy winner went on to describe how emotionally intense it is to watch her fiancé, Travis Kelce, play for the Kansas City Chiefs. “That is violent chess. Gladiators without swords,” Swift said. “The whole season, I’m locked in on what that man is doing on the field. Can you imagine if he’s out there putting his life on the line, and nd I’m like, ‘I wonder what my choreo should be.’”

Swift clarified that her decision not to perform at the Super Bowl had nothing to do with Kelce himself. “This is nothing to do with Travis,” she said. “He’d love for me to do it. I’m just too locked in right now.”

Swift’s Tonight Show appearance came just days after the release of her latest studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, which dropped on October 3. Within 11 hours, it became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day for 2025.
