Roofman’s Kirsten Dunst Reflects on Key Factors Behind Her Success in Hollywood

Kirsten Dunst speaks about her successful career in Hollywood

During an interview with People, Roofman’s Kirsten Dunst attributed her 30-year Hollywood career to “good friends and good family.” She said that these are essential to her longevity in the entertainment industry.

“I think that I just feel very proud that I can keep doing films that I want to do, and that […] the industry has embraced me still and keeps doing so,” the Spider-Man actress shared. “I really appreciate growing up, finding my path, and being part of making movies that mean a lot to me.”

The 43-year-old actress got her big break at the age of 11 in the 1994 film Interview with the Vampire, starring alongside Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. Dunst recalled being “treated like a princess” despite it being “a virtually all-male set.”

She also shared an anecdote from the Interview with the Vampire sets. “One morning, around Christmas, I remember going into my dressing room […] and [Tom Cruise had] set up a beautiful tree in there for me, covered in ornaments,” Dunst recalled.

Later, with movies like Jumanji, Bring It On, and Spider-Man, Dunst quickly rose to fame, making her one of the most recognizable actresses in the industry. Despite her success, Dunst’s career faced challenges such as the gender pay gap.

In an interview with the BBC in April 2024, the Bring It On actress candidly shared her thought process during that time. “I was very young, and it just felt like at the time, what do you do?” she shared. “I was 17, and I was still learning my taste in film. [So] I didn’t even think to ask [about equal pay],” Dunst admitted.

Dunst is starring in Roofman opposite Channing Tatum. Based on a true story, the movie is about Jeffrey Manchester, a former United States Army Reserve non-commissioned officer turned robber. It is scheduled to release on October 17, 2025.
