Fans have dug up old videos of Travis Kelce and Kayla Nicole following Taylor Swift‘s allegedly subtle dig at the NFL star’s ex-girlfriend. The clips have resurfaced shortly after the release of Swift’s record-breaking 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.
Kayla Nicole and Travis Kelce’s old video resurfaces
In her new song “Opalite” from The Life of a Showgirl, Swift appears to take a jab at Nicole, singing, “You were in it for real, she was in her phone / And you were just a pose.” The newly resurfaced videos have further sparked conversations about the reported verbal spar.
The videos feature Kelce and Nicole during their on-again, off-again romance from 2017 to 2022. One of the clips shows Kelce asking Nicole to “get off your phone.” He then suggested that they should head back home.
Another video features the Chiefs’ tight end complaining to Nicole about being “obsessed with yourself,” while she sang a Nat King Cole song. Additionally, a third clip shows Nicole asking Kelce to stop making funny faces while taking a video at a sports event (via Daily Mail).
It remains unknown whether the former couple were being serious or if it was just a series of playful jabs. Nevertheless, fans seem convinced that the videos are proof that Swift was talking about Nicole in the song.
Nicole, meanwhile, has shared an Instagram post to commemorate her time at a Hollywood Confidential dinner party, writing, “What an honor to share a table with some of the most iconic ‘girlfriends’ of all time. Women whose art has been a mirror and a reminder of what’s possible at every stage of my womanhood.”
Nicole thanked Hollywood Confidential for “creating space to celebrate visibility, sisterhood, and storytelling in its truest form.” She also shared an Instagram story featuring an old clip from America’s Next Top Model wherein Eva Marcille tells Tyra Banks that she doesn’t compare herself “to other girls.” Fans reportedly seem to read this story as Nicole’s response to Swift’s alleged jab (via Complex).
