The dating chatter started when TikToker Noah Glenn Carter posted a video suggesting that Shaq, 53, was dating Rain, 21, after the two were photographed together at her Las Vegas birthday party. Carter even pointed out the large age difference, calling it “a little uncomfy.”
Shaq wasted no time responding. Under Carter’s Instagram post, he wrote, “I don’t daw [date] that young but I will date your mom and give u a brother.” In other comments, later reposted after being deleted, the NBA legend explained that he had simply been DJing at Encore Beach Club that night when Rain “came to my party.” He added, “Stop tryna create rumors.”
Sophie Rain also set the record straight. She told Us Weekly people were blowing things out of proportion and confirmed that Shaq treated her with nothing but respect. “It was my 21st birthday and he made it unforgettable,” she said, stressing that their interaction was platonic.
Rain further clarified that she and Shaq did not hook up and insisted she is currently single. “Shaq’s response says it all. He was never trying to be anything more than supportive and fun,” she explained, adding that she laughed when she saw the online rumors.
