Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner’s legal battle with Ray J has entered a new phase after his recent public remarks. The case focuses on allegations of defamation, disputed claims of a federal investigation. This is the family’s decision to pursue legal action for the first time.
Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner sue Ray J over his comments
Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner have filed a lawsuit against Ray J for defamation.
On October 1, People confirmed attorney Alex Spiro filed the complaint after Ray J’s racketeering claims. It is Kardashian and Jenner’s first defamation suit.
In a statement to People, Spiro said, “Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian have never brought a defamation claim before nor have they been distracted by noise – but this false and serious allegation left no choice.” The lawsuit identifies two instances in which Ray J allegedly defamed them.
The first was in TMZ’s Tubi documentary United States vs. Sean Combs. In the documentary, he said, “If you told me the Kardashians was being charged for racketeering, I might believe it.” The second occurred during a September 24 livestream. He told his followers that authorities had launched a federal racketeering investigation into the Kardashians.
Spiro described these as the “most malicious defamatory conduct.” Court documents state Ray J has “engaged in a sustained campaign of harassment and defamation” against Kardashian and Jenner “for more than two decades.” The filing adds, “Unable to accept the end of his fleeting relationship with Ms. Kardashian over twenty years ago, Ray J has repeatedly sought to attach himself to Plaintiffs’ names and exploit their prominence for personal gain.”
“No such federal investigation exists; no law enforcement agency has initiated any criminal proceedings or investigations related to racketeering charges against Ms. Kardashian or Ms. Jenner; and no credible evidence whatsoever supports these inflammatory allegations,” Spiro added.
