Joseph Gordon-Levitt Calls Out Meta AI for ‘Getting Sexual With Underage Users’

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has released a sharp critique of Meta’s AI chatbot in a newly released New York Times opinion video. The actor referenced a video released by Mark Zuckerberg in July, in which the Meta CEO outlined his ambition to develop “superintelligence.” Gordon-Levitt pointed out that the term was coined with warnings that such technology might lead to human extinction. He added, “Mark Zuckerberg thinks it will lead to lots and lots of money.”

Gordon-Levitt then turned to Meta’s leaked moderation guidelines. To illustrate, he read disturbing examples in which the chatbot spoke romantically to teenagers and users as young as eight. In one scenario, a user role-playing as a high school student received an intimate scenario. Meanwhile, another scenario described the body of an eight-year-old as “a work of art.”

The actor stated, “One of my kids is 8 years old. It’s hard to describe how angry this makes me.” He added, “That’s why I’m making this video, because when you see horrible things like this happening, it can seem like these big businesses are just too powerful, but they’re not.”

Gordon-Levitt also highlighted the political influence of Big Tech. He pointed out that Meta and other firms recently established two super PACs, committing roughly $200 million to oppose regulation. He said, “They’re worried that American voters, both Republicans and Democrats, mostly agree that there should be laws that protect our kids from these predatory companies and their algorithms.”

Gordon-Levitt concluded by urging voters to reject candidates funded by these groups. He said, “Let our lawmakers know that they need to lay down some guardrails for these Big Tech companies.”
