Taylor Swift has unveiled a new commercial for the vinyl release of her upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl. The post features the songstress playing dual roles in a short comedy skit to promote the album. Staying true to the “showgirl” aesthetic, Swift dazzles in a pink corset by The Blondes and jazz tights in the featurette.
The glamorous corset features a velvet bodice with embellished outlines. The custom Bob Mackie headdress steals all attention with its dramatic feathers and adorned statement pieces. Swift completed the look with a pair of Christian Louboutin Miss Z heels and her iconic red lips.
The hilarious commercial for Target shows Taylor Swift as both a showgirl and a director, instructing her on how to pose for the photo. The video opens with director Swift declaring, “Alright, we are still rolling; we’re gonna try this again. OK?” She then goes on to give artistic notes to showgirl Swift, saying, “We’re elegant, we’re luxurious!”
The frame then cuts to Swift trying her best to strike an amazing pose, but failing hilariously. The director remains critical of her, leading to a string of humorous remarks. She exclaims, “What is going on with the posture? It’s giving ‘No, girl,’ not ‘Showgirl!’ What are we doing?”
At one point, a disappointed Swift states, “Not that! She’s got cat hair all over her.” The ad ends with showgirl Swift unravelling a poster for the album, along with a voiceover by the singer announcing, “The Life of Showgirl: Exclusive edition only at Target. And, it has a pretty big poster, too!”
The Life of a Showgirl is the upcoming 12th studio album by the pop diva. In the recent appearance on the New Heights podcast with Travis and Jason Kelce, the 35-year-old revealed that she worked on the album during the European leg of her 2024 Eras Tour. The album is all set to be released on October 3, 2025.
