Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe are reportedly stepping back from public exchanges with J.K. Rowling. The actors believe that their attempts to comment or clarify only result in further attacks from Rowling.
Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe have decided to stop engaging with J.K. Rowling
Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe have reportedly chosen not to engage with J.K. Rowling entirely, according to #ShuterScoop sources. The former Harry Potter stars have grown tired of public exchanges with the author, who continues to criticize them online.
“They can’t win. Every time they comment, Rowling fires back and it spirals into another war,” one insider said. For both actors, stepping back is now seen as the only way to prevent further confrontation.
Most recently, Watson attempted to bridge the differences by expressing respect for Rowling, calling her “treasured” despite their differences. According to insiders, her gesture of compassion only escalated Rowling’s public criticism. They said, “Emma thought compassion might heal things. It just made it worse.”
Similarly, Radcliffe is aware that any statement could provoke another aggressive response from Rowling. The insider noted, “He knows if he opens his mouth, it’ll become fuel for another Rowling tirade. It’s lose-lose.”
The tension between Watson and Rowling dates back to 2020, when the author’s controversial statements about the transgender community drew widespread criticism. Watson, alongside Radcliffe and other co-stars, publicly opposed Rowling’s remarks. Over the years, Rowling has repeatedly attacked Watson and others, while repeating her anti-transgender comments.
Recently, Rowling posted on X that Watson “has so little experience of real life she’s ignorant of how ignorant she is,” referencing a letter she received from Watson that allegedly sympathized with the public backlash Rowling was facing.
The author also added, “The greatest irony here is that, had Emma not decided in her most recent interview to declare that she loves and treasures me – a change of tack I suspect she’s adopted because she’s noticed full-throated condemnation of me is no longer quite as fashionable as it was – I might never have been this honest.”
