J.K. Rowling Fires Back at Emma Watson: ‘Ignorant of How Ignorant She Is’

J.K. Rowling and Emma Watson’s cold war is far from over, as the author has launched a new attack on the Harry Potter star. This comes after Watson confessed on last week’s episode of On Purpose with Jay Shetty that she does not hold any grudges against the Harry Potter author and treasures fond memories with her.

J.K. Rowling addresses Emma Watson’s recent comments

J.K. Rowling has launched a fresh attack on Emma Watson after the latter’s comments about her on Jay Shetty’s podcast.

The author wrote a lengthy post on her X account about what she feels regarding the ongoing controversy and condemned Watson for showcasing performative sympathy toward her.

Rowling revealed how she has repeatedly declined invitations from journalists to comment on Watson and their ongoing cold war. The author didn’t want the 35-year-old actress to be “hounded as the result of anything I said.”

Rowling revealed on X that, on The Witch Trials of JK Rowling podcast, the Harry Potter alum passed her a note saying, ‘I’m so sorry for what you’re going through.’ Emma Watson’s behavior hurt Rowling, even though she had her phone number and could have called instead.

Rowling accused the 35-year-old actress of showcasing performative sympathy in the media toward her and of being “ignorant.” “Like other people who’ve never experienced adult life uncushioned by wealth and fame, Emma has so little experience of real life she’s ignorant of how ignorant she is,” she wrote about the actress.

Furthermore, Rowling penned that the only reason Watson is professing her love and respect for the author is to gain brownie points from fans and the media.

“The greatest irony here is that, had Emma not decided in her most recent interview to declare that she loves and treasures me — a change of tack I suspect she’s adopted because she’s noticed full-throated condemnation of me is no longer quite as fashionable as it was — I might never have been this honest.”

Rowling ended the lengthy note by stating that she too has decided to exercise her right to free speech and will speak her mind more freely about the actress and the issues that matter to her.

Emma Watson has maintained a dignified silence on the matter.
