Emily Blunt reacts to AI actress in Hollywood
Emily Blunt couldn’t hold back her thoughts on AI actress Tilly Norwood’s Hollywood debut. On Monday, September 29, the actress appeared on the Variety Awards Circuit podcast to promote her upcoming film, The Smashing Machine.
The Devil Wears Prada alum reacted to the launch of AI actress Tilly Norwood and how she is already generating interest from management companies and talent agencies. Blunt read the report published by Variety and had the most honest reaction and horrifying expression on her face.
She expressed “how terrifying this is” and couldn’t believe Tilly Norwood was actually AI because she looked so human. The 42-year-old actress couldn’t hold back her shock. “No, are you serious? That’s an AI? Good Lord, we’re screwed. That is really, really scary. Come on, agencies, don’t do that. Please stop. Please stop taking away our human connection” (via Variety).
Furthermore, Blunt noticed that creators designed Tilly Norwood keeping popular Hollywood actresses in mind. Variety said “they want her to be the next Scarlett Johansson.” The Oppenheimer actress was quick to point out that Johansson already exists and we need not make a replica of her.
For those unversed, AI talent studio Xicoia launched AI actress Tilly Norwood. In fact, Norwood is already making waves as an actress, having made her debut in the comedy sketch AI Commissioner. The makers are pitching Norwood as the next Scarlett Johansson or Natalie Portman and insist she is already making waves in Hollywood and garnering massive interest from talent agencies and fans alike.
Meanwhile, Blunt stars as Dawn Staples in The Smashing Machine opposite Dwayne Johnson’s Mark Kerr, an MMA legend and former amateur wrestler. The film earned accolades at both the Venice Film Festival and Toronto Film Festival and is headed for an American release this weekend.
