Gardner-Johnson, who infamously picked out a rivalry with Taylor Swift and her fiancé, Travis Kelce, after the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl earlier this year, seems to have hit a major roadblock in his career. The development, which saw Gardner-Johnson being traded to the Houston Texans, only to be released three games later, saw Swifties celebrating all over social media platforms.

While trash-talking opponents is a part of the game and often adds a layer of entertainment, sometimes things go too far. That is exactly what happened with C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
After the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, C.J. Gardner-Johnson posted a picture with Travis Kelce, with the caption, “Should’ve stayed w that thick s****,” referring to Kelce’s ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole. He further escalated the matter by first re-posting and later deleting a picture of Kayla in a bikini on IG Stories.
Taylor Swift’s loyal fanbase retaliated almost immediately by bashing his mom’s restaurant in online reviews. Gardner-Johnson responded to this by wearing a shirt at his victory parade that read, “Swifties Can LIX My Balls.”
It seems that Karma has caught up to Gardner-Johnson, who was traded to the Houston Texans in between seasons. But within three games for the Texans, he was released. Coach DeMeco Ryans told the Houston Chronicle about this, “It was my decision to move on. I know what’s best for my team. … Coming from me, the head coach, it was the best for our team. That’s why I made the decision.”
Swift’s fans were overjoyed at this development and made it clear in the comment sections of the posts about his release on X. “Well would you look at that! Siri play Karma by Taylor Swift,” one user wrote on NFL’s post on X. Meanwhile, another user wrote, “Ha Ha! That’s karma baby!???,” while another added, “Spoke on Taylor Swift & now his employment status is a blank space.”
So, it seems that just like some events earlier, those who try to go against Taylor Swift end up suffering.
Swift’s fanbase remains strong in their stance about this incident.
