Katy Perry got nostalgic in her recent Instagram post celebrating the one-year anniversary of her album, “143.” In the post, the pop icon reflected on the year, thanking her fans. Meanwhile, she also looked back on what she described as some of her most “tested” years in the public eye. For Perry, the year was not just about music, and neither was the post.
Katy Perry marks ‘143’ album anniversary with a heartfelt tribute on Instagram
In her latest Instagram post, a “proud” Katy Perry celebrated the first anniversary of her studio album, “143,” while reflecting on the past year. She filled the caption with thoughts on growth and struggle. Moreover, she admitted how she has learned to stop trying to control the uncertainties. The pop singer looked back on “143” as more than a record, describing it as her “I love you” to her listeners. She also called songs snapshots of where she was at the time.
For Perry, the past year has been full of personal upheaval. In June, the singer ended her seven-year relationship with actor Orlando Bloom. Though she didn’t mention Bloom directly, Perry hinted at the transition in the comments of her post, “Whatever comes next, I’m letting it unfold naturally. No forcing, no controlling – just trusting the angels, the fans, and the music to guide me where I’m meant to go.”
She admitted her time in the spotlight has had a dual side — while she felt the joy of being celebrated, she also struggled with the challenge of being scrutinized. Perry confessed, “Through my years in the spotlight, I have been beloved, tested and tried.” The lasting lesson for her has been to keep moving, even when things fall short.
The “Firework” hitmaker tied the thought to a gift from a friend: a book titled “What Katy Did Next,” saying the title stuck, and the message pushes her to keep dreaming and keep going, no matter what. Perry closed her Instagram post with gratitude for her fans before turning the page to the future.
Fresh from the South American leg of her The Lifetimes Tour, Perry will head to Europe, kicking things off in Belfast on October 4.
