The end of the world is near, according to several individuals on a corner of TikTok called RaptureTok. It’s a space where many believe the Rapture will happen this month. This has led creators to share videos about how they’re preparing for the world’s season finale. The Rapture is a Christian belief that Jesus Christ will return to Earth and take his true believers to heaven.
Why is ‘Rapturetok’ trending?
RaptureTok is going viral as creators post videos claiming the world could end on September 23, 2025. Many viewers have seen people preparing by selling cars, homes, and donating assets.
This belief stems from Thessalonians 4:13-17. It reads, “For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.” “After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.” “And so we will be with the Lord Forever.”
The RaptureTok trend has not just gone viral on TikTok but has also captured the attention of users on other social media platforms. Many are taking to different platforms to react to this world-ending scenario. On X (formerly Twitter), a user, in disbelief of the trend wrote, “People are donating assets bcs of the rapture thing, guys?? can I have a Ford raptor.”
Another user mentioned, “I’ve just come across RaptureTok. I can’t tell if they’re running one huge troll or if they’re really so self-absorbed they think they’d be chosen if it existed.” They added, “Who would ever be so egotistical to assume they were so perfect, they’d be express-delivered to Heaven?”
Many others also poked fun at the trend, questioning how any sensible person could believe it. A third user added, “is anyone else on rapturetok rn… i’m giggling there is no way so many people genuinely believe this is happening?”
“Look, if nothing else, the Rapture might make rent affordable again for those of us left behind,” another user mentioned. Some users also showcased their anticipation. They wondered what shape the trend might take if the world didn’t end on the presumed date.
Over the years, there have been countless rumors about the world ending, with many confidently predicting specific dates. Yet, by God’s grace, none of them has ever come true.
