The Thursday Murder Club sequel on the cards

Chris Columbus recently sat down with Collider and shared plans regarding the sequel to The Thursday Murder Club. Although there is no confirmation from Netflix regarding a sequel, Columbus hinted that another movie might happen in the future.

When asked if he made the Netflix film while keeping sequels in mind, Columbus said, “Oh, God, completely, we realized that these books were incredibly popular with people, not only in the UK, but around the world. I read every book that was available. I knew exactly where those characters were going.” The director stated that he provided the actors with their dialogue and their character descriptions, so “they could read those and bring that to the character.” He further added that “everything that was done in the first film is really a setup for subsequent films to come.”

Bogdan will surely be back in The Thursday Murder Club 2

Columbus also weighed in on one of the key characters of the books and movie, Bogdan, and whether he would return in a sequel.

Bogdan’s arrest in the movie, which is different from the books, left some fans frustrated and concerned about his involvement in future movies. However, Columbus told the outlet, “Certain people who read the book were a little concerned that Bogdan got arrested, and they were talking about the fact, ‘Well, he comes back in book two and three, and he’s such an essential character.’ Never, it was never our intention to keep Bogdan out of those films. Of course, he’s going to come back.”
