Author Stephen King shared a post on social media following the death of conservative political activist Charlie Kirk. Kirk was shot in the neck while attending an event for his American Comeback Tour at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Wednesday, September 10. It was later announced that he had died. He was 31 years old.
Stephen King’s latest X post about Charlie Kirk
Stephen King took to X (formerly Twitter) to respond to a post from Fox News host Jesse Watters about Charlie Kirk. Watters eulogized Kirk as a “patriot” in his post and said the late conservative political activist “was not a ‘controversial’ or ‘polarizing’ man.” In reply, King wrote, “He advocated stoning gays to death. Just sayin’.”
The TV anchor also shared a Fox News clip of himself discussing Kirk’s death. King’s post seems to have drawn a strong reaction from certain sections of X users. Elon Musk, for instance, seemingly called King a “liar” in the comment section of the former’s post.
Kirk grew up in Prospect Heights, Illinois, and had been actively involved in conservative political work since he was in high school. In the following years, he became an important figure on the conservative side of US politics. He was a co-founder of the non-profit organization Turning Point USA, serving as its CEO until his death.
After his passing, President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social, “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us.” Trump also extended his and the First Lady’s sympathies to Kirk’s family and loved ones.
Kirk is survived by his wife and two children.
