Howard Stern Addresses SiriusXM Exit Rumors Amid Andy Cohen’s Takeover

After Andy Cohen took over Howard Stern’s 7 a.m. radio show on Monday, fans started speculating that Stern had abruptly left SiriusXM. However, this was not the case. Stern was merely addressing the rumors with a prank. In a fun twist, he teamed up with Cohen to play a prank on his listeners instead of giving lengthy explanations regarding the ongoing rumors.

Here’s how Stern pulled the prank off and what he said about the rumors.

After Howard Stern’s recent absence from the show, rumors about him leaving SiriusXM took over the internet. Stern, in his own way, addressed these rumors.

The elaborate prank began during his regular 7 a.m. show as scheduled. But instead of Stern’s voice, the listeners were welcomed by Bravo host Andy Cohen. He introduced himself and explained that they’re renaming Stern’s show as Andy 100.

He said, “This is not the voice you probably wanted to hear, but it is I, Andy Cohen, and this is our first day broadcasting on Andy 100.” Talking about the show’s supposed rebranding, he further stated, “Andy 100 is what it’s being referred to around Sirius for the last few days. I know that you’re expecting a big announcement from Howard, and this is not how things were meant to go.” (via NBC News)

Cohen took it further by saying, “There’s been a lot of talk about what’s going to happen with Howard. Is he fired? I don’t know how much I’m allowed to say, except that he’s not here and I am.”

After a break, the 71-year-old host finally returned to his show and revealed that it was all a prank. Howard Stern revealed, “That was all masterminded by me.” He continued to speak about how both of them worked together to make this happen.

Stern took this opportunity to set the record straight about all the rumours surrounding his exit. He said, “Everything you’ve been reading in the paper about me, about Robin [Quivers], is completely false.”

Howard Stern further explained that he missed the previous week’s show because he fell sick. He also shared that there are ongoing conversations between his team and SiriusXM about reviewing his contract.

Notably, his current $100 million contract is coming to an end this year.
