Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the actors who will go method in extreme scenarios. This is also one of the reasons why he is so highly acclaimed and continues to attract the greatest filmmakers in the business. But there is one thing that he avoids doing in method acting. The actor spoke about this in his latest appearance at the premiere of One Battle After Another.
Leonardo DiCaprio says he can’t do method acting with weed
While Leonardo DiCaprio is renowned for jumping into doing the craziest things for his roles, he claims that he avoids going all-in when it comes to smoking weed. The actor revealed that the character he played in One Battle After Another “sits home and smokes pot all the time…it was great to have that ease of incorporating that into the character (via Instagram).”
“How method did you get with the weed?” the reporter asked him in response. DiCaprio said, “No, I don’t get method when it comes to that, no.” He further added the reason, “I can’t do it. I can’t perform.”
So, it seems that smoking weed may be the only thing that hinders the veteran actor. He is otherwise famous for going all-in for all his roles. In The Revenant, Leonardo DiCaprio endured some of the most challenging things any actor has done on screen, thanks to his method acting. He has done similar things in other films like Titanic, Shutter Island, and Killers of the Flower Moon multiple times.
The actor will showcase his incredible skills once again in One Battle After Another, directed by the legendary Paul Thomas Anderson and starring Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, and Chase Infiniti.
The film premiered in Los Angeles on September 8. In the United States, it will hit the theatres on September 26, 2025.
