As fans reached for the ball, one Phillies fan successfully found it. He made his way several seats over to hand it to what appeared to be his son, gently placing it in his glove and hugging him.
However, the moment quickly turned tense. Another fan, who had also attempted to catch the ball, confronted the man. Grabbing his arm, she said, “No, you took it from me! You took it from me! That was in my hands.” After a brief argument, the man returned the ball from the boy’s glove to the upset fan. Video footage of the exchange circulated online, with audience calling the woman a “Krazy Karen.”
However, a stadium employee soon approached the young fan with a gift bag, apologizing for the incident and checking to make sure he was alright. The employee asked, “I’m so sorry. You okay?” The gesture drew cheers from surrounding fans.
The Phillies went further to make the day special. After the game, Harrison Bader personally met the boy and presented him with a signed bat. The incident was captured by fan videos and widely shared online. Fans praised the player and team for their thoughtfulness and quick response.
