In a new interview, pop icon Dua Lipa finally cleared the air about her controversial “naked” wedding dress, famously worn at Simon Porte Jacquemus and Marco Maestri’s wedding in 2022. Dua Lipa has finally addressed her plain white, nearly see-through dress at the 2022 wedding, which became the talk of the town back then. While everyone else was also wearing white—mainly plain white—Dua’s bold and revealing dress caught the attention of those around her, as well as the media.
“This outfit kind of caused a little bit of a stir,” Lipa said in the clip posted by Harper’s Bazaar. “The dress code was white,” she explained. “From all the pictures you can see that everybody’s wearing white, so I don’t know why I got so much stick for it.”
She added, “I think also because I was kind of quite naked for it as well.” She further explained that Jacquemus, whose wedding she was attending, had designed the dress and specifically requested her to wear it. Naturally, she complied with his request.
“So it was at his request that I wore this dress to his wedding,” she said. “I absolutely loved it. I felt so good in it. It was just unbelievable. I feel like I talk about that wedding still to this day.”
Although the dress was heavily analyzed in the past and remained a lasting memory for many of the singer’s fans, it seems the choice had a very logical explanation.
