Brad Pitt has returned to work following his mom Jane Pitt’s demise at the age of 84. The 61-year-old is currently filming The Adventures of Cliff Booth, a spin-off of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. He reprises his role of Cliff Booth from the 2019 film.
The upcoming feature is helmed by David Fincher and written by Quentin Tarantino. Pitt recently starred in F1: The Movie. The film has not only become a critical success but also a commercial hit, grossing $592.1 million globally against a budget of $200-300 million.
Brad Pitt returns to work after mom’s death
The Bullet Train star was recently spotted on the set of The Adventures of Cliff Booth. He could be seen in costume as the eponymous protagonist. Furthermore, the actor was shown sporting a moustache, indicating that Booth will have a slightly different look in the upcoming film, compared to his appearance in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
A source told PEOPLE that despite his mom’s death, Brad Pitt was “being his usual professional self.” This is supported by the actor smiling in set photos that were recently shared online.
The Adventures of Cliff Booth’s production began in July 2025 and is expected to wrap up sometime next year. Sean Fennessey shared on The Big Picture podcast that the upcoming movie will take place eight years after the events of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (via World of Reel).
The film currently has no release date. Besides Pitt, it also stars Scott Caan, Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, Holt McCallany, JB Tadena, Karren Karagulian, and Timothy Olyphant. It’s currently unknown if Leonardo DiCaprio will reprise his role of Rick Dalton.
Quentin Tarantino, who wrote the screenplay for this movie, recently explained why he wasn’t directing it. On The Church of Tarantino podcast, the acclaimed filmmaker — who has gone on record to state that his next directorial effort would be his last — stressed that he had been “walking down the same ground” he had “already walked.”
“It just kind of unenthused me,” he noted. “This last movie, I’ve got to not know what I’m doing again. I’ve got to be in uncharted territory.”
