Rumors have been circulating online, suggesting Drake delayed the release of his new album, Iceman, due to Taylor Swift, who is set to release her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, in two months. Thus, there has been considerable curiosity among many regarding the truth of these rumors. Drake’s album currently has no release date attached to it. However, two singles from it have already been released. These are “What Did I Miss?” and “Which One,” which were released on July 5 and July 25, 2025, respectively.
Did Drake delay his album because of Taylor Swift?
Drake has not officially delayed the release of Iceman due to Taylor Swift’s album announcement.
The reason why rumors concerning a delay emerged was due to misinformation being spread by various TikTok videos. There are currently no official or credible reports suggesting a delayed release.
Meanwhile, the “Hotline Bling” artist hasn’t shared the official release date of Iceman. However, former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel — who is friends with Drake — offered a timeframe for when fans could expect the upcoming album to drop.
In a recent Cool Kicks video, Manziel teased that the album could drop anytime between the end of October 2025 and the start of November 2025. Notably, Drake’s birthday is on October 24. Moreover, in a recent Kick livestream with Adin Ross, xQc, and PartyNextDoor, the 38-year-old artist shared that he had been staying up every night to record the album.
“I’ll stay up all night f—— recording for Iceman,” said Drake. “They’re having a full-blown party outside. I can hear people and having a street festival all day.” He continued, “I’ll go out there. I’ll f—— run out there. I’ll turn up with them, do shots, come back— like, I just want a little, you know, I wanna feel it.”
Drake has been teasing Iceman since August 2024. On July 5, 2025, he dropped a livestream video titled ICEMAN: Episode 1. In it, he could be seen driving the eponymous truck around Toronto, garnering the attention of many fans. The livestream was followed by the release of the lead single of his album, “What Did I Miss?”
Later, on July 24, 2025, the five-time Grammy winner debuted the album’s second single, “Which One,” in the livestream video, ICEMAN: Episode 2.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift will release The Life of a Showgirl on October 3, 2025.
