Vice Ganda, one of the foremost Filipino entertainers of the time, is back on the famous show, It’s Showtime, after a brief period of absence that raised doubts about the comedian leaving. This also came after the controversial skit with Regine Velasquez during their two-night Super Divas concert that has since raised many eyebrows.
Vice Ganda makes her return to It’s Showtime
Vice Ganda was notably absent from It’s Showtime for a week, which had fans worried about his possible exit from the famous show. Ganda was absent from It’s Showtime after his appearance on Super Divas: The Concert with Regine Velasquez-Alcasid at the Araneta Coliseum, which took place on August 8 and 9, 2025.
One skit in Super Divas garnered quite a bit of controversy. In the skit, Vice and Regine took a dig at the viral “Jet2 holiday” meme, mocking former President Rodrigo Duterte’s promise of jetskiing to the Spratlys to plant the Philippine flag to stop China from expanding into the area.
“Nothing beats a jet ski holiday, right now from Manila to the West Philippine Sea via jet ski. Get unlimited water bombing from Chinese vessels and a free trip to The Hague by the ICC (International Criminal Court). Promo applies to DDS (Diehard Duterte Supporters) only. Pinklawans and BBMs are prohibited. Huwag niyo akong subukan, mga pui* niyo (Don’t try my patience, you sons of a b*),” he said about Duerte. (via Inquirer)
Many leaders and politicians have since criticized this skit. There has been a widespread boycott of the comedian as well. His followers went down by a million.
As Ganda did not appear on It’s Showtime days after this viral skit, many started associating the two events. But it seems that Ganda is going nowhere. The absence from It’s Showtime was a temporary one, and the comedian is now back to his famous role.
However, Vice Ganda is yet to address the backlash or the public response to his skit directly. Perhaps, he will do so soon. But as of now, Vice Ganda is very much a part of It’s Showtime.
